Five Fave Cleansers

five best cleansers

Cleansing is arguably the most boring step in any skincare routine. And until recently cleansers were something I was never overly fussed about. Okay I’ve tried a fair few and I always do do it, double cleansing when necessary – most nights. But it’s not till now I really, really appreciate it.

Living in London, and working in makeup, there has been no time in my life where I’ve loved cleansing my skin more. I find myself craving the moment I get to massage a lump of balmy cleanser into my skin as it melts away all traces of the day. My skin is exposed to a lot more pollution and I do think I can see the difference. I’ve also noticed my no makeup days are slowly decreasing so I definitely need a good cleanse 9 times out of 10.

Although cleansers spend the least time on your face, and essentially get washed down the drain… I find myself itching to purchase ones I’ve used and loved in the past almost as equally as wanting to try new ones.

These are my favourite cleansers which I think I will always go back to. God tier cleansers.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

This, for me, is and always will be the OG cleanser that changed the game. Cleansers need not be soapy. Need not leave your skin squeaky clean. This is the cleanser I bought when I first got into really investing in my skin as a teen. The one I also got my sister into. Think a creamy, soft texture, with nourishing ingredients and a light botanical scent. I will always feel nostalgia for this.

Clinique Take the Day Off

The ultimate cleansing balm. This is a real no fuss cleanser which will always get the job done. Ol’ reliable. His only fault is he can be a bit boring. But do you really need an exciting cleanser for makeup removal? The lack of fragrance makes it super gentle, whilst being tough on waterproof makeup and no risk of making your eyes sting. For a first cleanse it’s undefeated. Oh and it also lasts forever.

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel

This one is referred to as nutritional skincare and for good reason as its packed full of a host of vitamins, omegas and enzymes to help make your skin the best it can be. Who cares if I’m malnourished, at least my skin is well fed! It has a soft gel texture which melts onto the skin and always leaves it feeling fresh and plump. I love this cleanser. Although it’s a bit bougie and the most expensive out of the 5, it’s a truly luxurious cleansing experience.

Lixirskin Electrogel Cleanser

This was not a cleanser that instantly sprang to mind when writing this post, but whilst researching my to try list, I came across it again. And boy. This cleanser is actually amazing. It made my skin so soft after the first use, I remember being genuinely shocked. I’ve only used one tube but I must get my hands on it again asap. It definitely deserves a spot in this list. Although would not recommend for eye makeup removal – ouch! But second cleanse skin – beaut!

Fresh Soy Cleanser

Again this one is teetering on the edge of the boring category, however sometimes this is really what my skin needs. Super, super mild and gentle. This is the cleanser I’m using atm to calm my skin down after recently upsetting it with a few products that shan’t be named but are from here on out cancelled in my eyes. Fresh and lightly cucumber scented. Again, excellent.

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser, 150ml £30

And if you’re at all curious about the cleansers I’m yet to try but have my eyes on next: the iconic Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm, everyone’s new favourite Ren Perfect Canvas Clean Jelly Oil Cleanser, and already waiting on my shelf, the Beauty Pie Japanfusion Pure Transforming Cleanser.

Over and out.
