I was kindly invited to attend my very first blogger event with a brand I loooove. This as the title suggests was Kiehl’s, which was so incredibly exciting. Me being me, I was feeling quite shy about going but am so glad I did. This was definitely a blogging accomplishment for the year! I got to meet a few fellow Sheffield based bloggers which was pretty cool whilst also learning more about skincare products – my one true love.
First of all we were treated to chocolates and champagne whilst we learnt a little more about the background of the company. This was followed by a quiz in which the winner won a bottle of shampoo! Sadly not me ha. We then all took it in turns to have a skin consultation, arm and hand massage and to my delight a mini facial!!
The skin consultation
I’ve been using skin care for maybe the past 10ish years of my life. And all this time I thought I had oily, combination skin. BUT according to my skin analysis I’m actually creeping into the dry/normal category??? Crazy. I always knew stripping your skin from oils by avoiding moisturisers only makes your skin create more oil, which is why I am pro moisture. But actually my skin was still dehydrated with only 40% hydration apparently. Lol who knew. *slaps on ten layers of the midnight recovery concentrate* . I would definitely recommend heading down to your local Kiehl’s counter for a skin consultation. You never know!
After this I was introduced to a couple of products which I am keen to get my hands on. But being good I only gave in to one. That being the Nightly Refining Micro-Peel concentrate, this is a sort of chemical exfoliant which is said to soften and refine skin texture and even the skin tone. Yassss. Long term readers may remember in my skincare routine post I said I use the Pixi Glow Tonic nightly as my chemical exfoliant – but for now it’s taking a backseat in place of my new baby.
The massage and facial
The hand and arm massage was great. I got to enjoy a good chat with the lovely girl who works at Kiehl’s whilst also sitting back and relaxing. She told me how the moisturiser she was using – Creme de Corps – is what the Victoria’s Secret models use to make their legs nice and shiny for the runways. Pretty cool. And I can tell why as it left my skin feeling super smooth and replenished.
But the mini facial was what I was most excited for. I’ve never had a facial before but have been dying to have one for years. So this was an ultimate treat and I felt so pampered and special. Since it was the evening time my skin was prepped for bed and loaded with lotions and potions which left my skin looking and feeling beaut the next day- although nobody got to witness it sadly lol. The Kiehl’s in House of Fraser Meadowhall offer free full length facials around every 6 weeks which is cray. I booked myself onto one straight away and can’t wait till next month to have it. This is the epitome of treating myself ahhhh.
For the past couple of days I’ve been struck down with the plague… aka a cold. And generally feeling rubbish. So I decided to liven myself up a bit by enjoying the free samples I received from the event which seems to have worked a tiny bit… I’m still coughing up my lungs but at least my skin is clean and soft! I was lucky enough to receive enough samples to fuel my entire shower! And although all I really want is to soak in a bath, being at uni this will have to do.
I used Kiehl’s shampoo, conditioner, body wash, scrub and body butter and am feeling all kinds of pampered. They really worked their magic as I’m trying to figure out if I have the funds to purchase some of these in full size now… lol I definitely don’t. Student life. I also used the Micro-Peel so needless to say I’m excited to wake up tomorrow to stare at my skin for any changes. So I guess we’ll leave this post here!
Writing a blog post at night isn’t unusual for me but posting it at this time is. So goodnight everyone!
