Like many other people, one of my new year’s resolutions for 2017 was to join a gym. And after always being one of the girls who hated PE, would never want to participate and was always unfit, I have joined and am loving the gym. Despite being the most lazy person to exist… probably. I think choosing to exercise is definitely where it’s at. And I choose to do the things I like. For example I find cardio really boring but have discovered a love in weight training. It still feels weird saying it lol. And most of all I’m doing it for me, not because I have to. It really is a form of therapy to me. I find I can escape for an hour or so when I’m there and really focus on what I’m doing. Every time I go I’m improving and getting stronger and that’s an incredible feeling. It’s the thing that keeps me going back.
But along with a new love for the gym, I have also formed a strong love for gym wear.
I’ve always quietly admired the girls I’d see going to uni in gym clothes, knowing they were off for a workout after lectures. And now I’m one of those girls! But in all seriousness wearing gym clothes makes me feel super confident and powerful. For lack of a better expression – I feel like a girl boss. I feel like I walk faster, with more purpose and a slight bounce in my step due my incredibly comfy Nikes. And when it comes to gym wear one of my favourite brands is Gymshark. So I thought I would style three different gym looks all around one of their most popular pair of leggings – the Flex leggings* – which are due to restock tomorrow (6th April) at 3pm. If you’re at all considering buying a pair – definitely go for it as they will sell out!
If you’ve never heard of Gymshark’s Flex leggings, they are an incredibly flattering, comfortable pair of gym leggings. They’re available in black, charcoal, purple and sapphire with even more colours being launched this week. Although they are not high waisted they are still really wearable. What makes them different is the contrasting parts of the fabric which help to contour your body adding definition especially on the peach which is obviously the goal. I have the black/marl black pair* which I think are a great choice if you want the contour but in a much more subtle, understated look. And of course black leggings are always a go to.
So, lets get straight into the looks!
Look one – ‘All Black Everything’
When I wear all black, I mean business. Of course it’s a classic, chic look. But wearing all black with these leggings is a good way to show them off with no distractions. So here I’ve paired my leggings* with a black Nike top and black New Balance 420 trainers. This is also a good look if you want to avoid looking sweaty at all costs if you’re wearing it after the workout too. Now if only I had a completely black pair of trainers…
Look two – Lilac Lovin’
Obviously I had to wear pastels in Spring (although on camera they just look white lol). I’m not a huge black and white person – I love to wear colours particularly purples and pinks. And this baggy, pale lilac Reebok vest is perfect for working out in my gym as it seems to not have air con??? Needless to say it gets pretty sweaty so this is nice and airy with huuuuge arm holes. I paired the look with my New Look lilac shoes which are pretty flat – perfect for squats etc. if you weight train.
Look three – ‘All Repping One Thing’
Of course what better way to wear your Gymshark leggings* than with a Gymshark top? I love the shade of purple of this top and I find the fit to be really flattering – especially in my shoulders. The high neck and shape of the arm holes/sleeves seems to cut my shoulders in just the right way. Usually I wouldn’t wear a crop top with non-high waisted bottoms but I find the tie up ribbon helps me get away with it which I love haha. I’m also wearing my super comfy grey Nike Roshe Ones which I actually customised on NIKEiD cus I’m cool like that lol.
If you’d like to buy a pair of Flex leggings in the new restock at 3pm tomorrow (6th April) here’s my link. Don’t forget – they will sell out!
This was my first ‘fashion’ blog post and I’ve really enjoyed making it, so definitely look out for more! Which is your favourite look?
