My New Year’s Goals… 6 months on

brunch goals at cote

Almost as goals as this brunch

So I’m currently trying to watch Love Island (who isn’t?) but my wifi is buffering like mad. So what better to do instead whilst also avoiding twitter spoilers than to write a spontaneous blog post?

A couple of hours ago it suddenly occurred to me we’re half way through 2017! WHAT??? The older I get the faster time seems to fly by and before we know it we’ll be passing into 2018. But anyways, I thought it would be a good idea to recap on the goals I made for 2017 6 months ago and check in on how well I’m getting through them.

So let’s see!

  1. Leave the UK…

regular readers will know I finally managed to do this! At the ripe old age of 20, I went on a weekend trip to Paris which I wrote all about on here. This was such an experience and I’ve been dreaming of pain au chocolat breakfasts and croque monsieur lunches ever since. I was living my best life which I tried to recreate at Côte Brasserie recently, hence the pic. You can find day one, day two and day three of my trip in the (kinda bare) travel category of the blog.

  2. Join the gym…

so at the beginning of the year I got really into going to the gym. I was going regularly and buying all the gymwear I could get my hands on, I even did a gym look book over here lol. But since Paris, revision, exams and life in general got in the way, I stopped going for about 2 months. BUT don’t you worry, people. I’m back at it, this time with my sister as my work out partner/motivator and I’m finally building back my strength. Yassss.

  3. Learn to drive…

no big deal but on my half birthday I bought my first car lol. It feels so weird and grown up to say that. But I’ve been driving pretty much daily ever since! Admittedly my car is an automatic so it’s not that difficult to learn and my mum has taught me everything I know so far. The thing I do struggle with is confidence, which I hope will improve over time, please! But I’m planning to do my theory test and a crash course driving lesson type thing soon. Exciting times!

  4. Read 12 books…

well, let’s just say this is not going to plan. In theory 12 books seemed totally doable. Think 1 book a month. But 6 months in I’ve only read one full book. Wow. Life seems to get in the way and when it comes down to it, I’m way more likely to log into Netflix than to open a book. So this is something I’m going to try to rectify for the remainder of the year. Wish me luck!

  5. Give back…

by this I meant being more charitable. But really my main goal was to donate blood. Well, I booked the appointment (a big deal in itself) and nervously went to the blood donation center in Sheffield. I was SO ready and almost pumped to do it. And finally after months of waiting and anticipation it turned out I had low iron and ‘bad’ veins and was told to try again in a few years time. Lol. All that build up for nothing. So I’m still looking for ways to give back. Hit me up with ideas!

So overall I’d say I’ve achieved 3/5 of my resolutions so far. And with 6 months left to go I’d say that’s pretty good!

How’re you getting on with yours?

Thank you for reading,
Linda

I never make New Years resolutions, that way I can’t break any!!! As far as giving back is concerned maybe you could offer your services in a charity shop or food bank one day a week or month if you’ve ever got time to spare. Good Luck with your driving. When you’ve passed your test you can take me for a spin!! Lol. Xxx
