skincare faves

A couple of weeks ago, if you follow me on instagram, you may have seen I posted a little insta story all about my current skincare favourites. This was something I hadn’t tried doing before and I have to say, I do enjoy that form of micro blogging. Unplanned, sporadic. I dig it. However, since my main love is traditional blogging, I thought I’d do a more in depth, structured post featuring the same products. So soz if this is a bit de ja vu!

Lush Mask of Magnaminty (Self – Preserving)

This is an amazing clay mask and one of my faves from Lush as it doesn’t have to be kept in the fridge. Hallelujah! Rich in nourishing honey, invigorating peppermint, exfoliating seeds and cleansing kaolin clay it’s a recipe for skincare magic. I’ve used both the original Mask of Magnaminty and the self preserving counterpart and have to say I prefer the latter. This has a much thicker, wetter consistency to it than the original due to the extra honey added and so doesn’t fully dry as you’d expect a regular clay mask to. But this is great as there’s no uncomfortable, tight feeling and the mask is easily removed. Great for spots on the face, back and chest – this is a face and body mask! It’s super versatile and long lasting – I’ve used this pot at least 5 times and there’s still a good couple of uses left inside. I always use this in the bath as I love the contrast of the hot, bubbly water soaking my body and the cooling, tingly mint on my face. Definitely give it a go!

Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner

I wrote a blog post about acid toners a couple of months ago and unsurprisingly this baby featured in it. I’m a big fan of chemical exfoliants and would recommend them to anyone! This one in particular though has reached holy grail status in my skincare cupboard. It instantly smooths my skin especially any rough surface texture on my nose better than any pore strips can. Used only a couple of times a week, it’s a step I really look forward to. And I love the scent of it! You can read all about acid toners and how to use them here.

Kiehl’s Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence*

An essence is something which not many people are familiar with and has been a skincare step I’ve ignored altogether up until now. I’ve had this little bottle of essence for quite a while now since receiving it at a Kiehl’s event in Sheffield. But it was left sitting on my shelf, unsure of what its purpose was. Recently I finally gave it a go and am LOVING it. Just a couple of drops patted into the skin post toner and pre moisturiser. My skin has such an added boost of moisture. Hydrated, radiant, glowy skin. From what I understand an essence helps to prime the skin ready for any skincare added on top and plays a big part in Korean skincare. This also supposedly has anti ageing benefits to the skin which is always a plus in my book. I’ve been using my tiny 40ml bottle consistently, twice a day, all month and I’ve barely made a dent in it. A little goes a long way. So I could imagine the full sized 200ml bottle could last for years!
