Battle of the Lazy Brows

When it comes to makeup, I’m the queen of lazy. Who has time for buffing, blending and baking on the daily? Not me, that’s who. And one step in particular which takes way longer than I want it to, is eyebrows. So of course I’m always on the hunt for the quickest, easiest brow product I can get my hands on. I’ve tried pomades, pencils and now eyebrow gels – think tiny mascara wand for your brows.

Benefit’s famous Gimme Brow and Glossier’s iconic Boy Brow

But which is better? Fiiiiiiiight!

Na but in all seriousness, these two products are essentially the same thing. And definitely the same concept. To brush through your brows, adding colour, definition and texture with the flick of a wrist. So let me give you the low down on the differences.

boy brow vs gimme brow

Gimme Brow (£20)

This is a volumizing brow gel. And actually, as I’m writing this it doesn’t seem to be available anywhere online – except cult beauty’s waitlist?? Is this no longer being sold? Who knows, but I’m too deep into this blog post to stop now lol soz. This comes/came(?) in three different shades – light, medium and deep. And what makes this beauty so special is it contains little microfibres inside it which boost the fullness off your brows, adding effortless volume. Super long wearing and great for keeping the hairs in place with a cheeky splash of added definition. This was perfect for my needs.

However, there is one problem I find with this. It is too wet. In theory this should be a good thing, allowing the product to brush through the brows easily. But with this comes more space for error, overdoing it, accidentally swiping it onto your face – a whole lotta trouble. And a whole lotta cleaning up.

So when Glossier started shipping to the UK, I jumped on the Boy Brow bandwagon as soon as I could. And yep, I’m still on it.

Boy Brow (£14)

This has a creamy wax formula inspired by hair pomade rather than a gel texture. This gives a much softer, more natural feel to the brows once dry, yet they somehow still stay in place. With a much less wet texture than Gimme Brow, less mess and less correcting. Less time is required to achieve a ‘my brows but better’ look. Amazing. This is available in clear, blond, black and brown, something for everyone. I purchased the colour black which I find to be quite a change as I usually would go for a dark brown, e.g. Benefit’s deep, but I dig it. The only downside to this product is you can only get it online. With Benefit counters in most department stores, it is obvs a lot easier to get your hands on the Gimme Brow (if it still exists that is lol).

But for the cheaper price and better, quicker finish – it’s gotta be Boy Brow every time.

P.S. totally forgot to mention I have a 10% off Glossier link which you can use here if you want!
