Skincare Overachievers

Oh skincare. My love for thee will never fade.

I’ve been thinking about my skincare products recently. I haven’t really bought anything new for a while and I’m in a pretty happy place with what I’m using. Although I’m never really unhappy per se, but my skin is looking perhaps it’s best ever? And I’m at a point where I really don’t want anything to run out. Mainly for my bank balance’s sake but also to stop my curiosity straying to try new things. Usually I’m rearing at the opportunity to try something new but at the moment I’m feeling pretty content, bar the odd eye cream.

Of course I’m a strong advocate for consistency when it comes to skincare. The best way to see results from your products is to use them consistently and keep up the routine. But within my current routine there are a few stand out products which I think really make the most difference. The ones I enjoy using the most. The ones that are doing the most.

Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser
I spoke about my first impressions for this cleanser on my insta stories a while ago and the love is still going strong, despite not being pictured here. I’ve used many a cleansing oil/balm in my time but this one seems to stand out from the rest. With its super thick, buttery texture which melts into a luxurious oil on your skin, it removes make up and of course cleanses the skin. But what I love about this cleanser is how beyond soft it leaves my face feeling afterwards. It’s an instant result which I can’t get enough of.

Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energising Radiance Masque
I’m not a big masker these days, but when I do use one for *self care* I always reach for this fella. This mask has both clay and exfoliating seeds inside giving you the best of both worlds, leaving my skin feeling both fresh and smooth. The best part of this mask though – it gets to work in just 10 mins. It’s pretty much instant visible, touchable results. Perfect for when my skin needs a lil extra attention, but with minimal effort.

Ole Henriksen Glow 2 OH Dark Spot Toner
This is an AHA toner essential to my routine these days. The type of product which is noticeable when you forget to use it. One of my main skincare concerns is scarring from previous spots and I’ve found this has been really good for helping them shift over time. But on the daily it freshens and refines the texture of my skin with any oils I put on top soaking in much easier and deeper. I always wake up with a smooth, even toned canvas when I use this before bed. Plus it smells like lemons!

Kiehl’s Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Herbal Concentrate
And finally another Kiehl’s offering. This is the only cannabis skincare product I’ve tried, purely out of curiosity. When I looked it up online after purchasing on a whim, it didn’t sound like a standout product to me. But two months later it holds a solid spot in my regime. This is a green, herby scented (not the special kind), light weight oil which I use every night. For me this seems to finish what the acid has started and helps to balance my skin condition and keep it a bit more consistent. I only seem to get the odd hormonal spot these days which never sticks around long perhaps due to the calming properties of this oil. This seems to be a commitment product where the longer I use it, the more results I see. Amazing.

These products are really out here doing the most.
